LEGO have posted a new press release about how the first six months of 2012 went. You can read the full thing here. However, since most people don't like reading long articles on financial profit, I'll sum up the main points here.

• Ninjago selling better than expectations.
• City and Star Wars still the top sellers.
• LEGO has 8% of the global toy market, with sales in Europe, the US and Asia increasing.

4 LEGO switching to 5-digit product numbers for 2013

Say goodbye to good-old 4-digit product numbers as LEGO finally makes its move to stop using the 4-digit product number scheme. These 5-digit product numbers are not un-heard of though, as many LEGO exclusives, promos, and more bear them.

Evidence recently surfaced suggesting that LEGO is switching to a 5-digit scheme after we learnt that the new Hobbit were numbered 790XX. This could mean a new numbering scheme for LEGO instead of using any four random numbers that still haven't been used.

Brickset has also kindly done research and found a growing trend with the current 5-digit product numbers as shown below:

0 A trip to - Snetterton Model and Toy Expo

Snetterton Model and Toy Expo is the main attraction of Snetterton Park. I wouldn't go. Just go to Toys R Us or something. Its basicly a toy shop. Its called an expo, because there a a few glass cases with models in.

Obviously the main bit you are interesting in is the LEGO. It has most current themes (not much Friends though) and some slightly older stuff they hadn't sold yet, like Atlantis and Pharaoh's Quest. However, the display is nearly almost made up on older stuff, such as a giant Power Miner monster and an Agents set. Also, on top of the shelves they have lots of old display stuff they clearly are confused with what to do, such as Ben 10 displays and giant BIONICLE figures.

They also had some Playmobil, model trains, really expensive toy soldiers that cost £30 each, some arts and crafts, party and ornaments stuff.

Overall, the "expo" is basicly just a toy shop, so just go to one of them.

LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean set, 4181 Isla De Muerta is now £7.50 at Asda in the UK. The set was originally priced at £19.97 but has been reduced down to £7.50 probably due to the fact that theme was unsuccessful.

Despite not being a big fan of the Pirates of the Caribbean film franchise I still bought one as their are quite a few unique pieces in the set that would be of great use in my future MOCs etc...

The set features Jack Sparrow, (sorry, I meant, Captain Jack Sparrow), Hector Barbossa, Elizabeth Swann, and Skeleton Barbossa.

9443 Rattlecopter was also reduced from £22.97 to £17.23, and the Series 6 Collectable Minifigures have been reduced from £1.97 down to £1.40 each. However there was no sign of any Team GB Olympics Minifigures.

Today when I visited Tesco I searched the LEGO aisle trying to find the Team GB Olympic Minifigures in the hope that they might be reduced only to find them at full price at £1.97 each. However what surprised me was how few were out on the shelves.

I have just received an email with a press release from Papercutz regarding the release of the next Ninjago book, “Tomb of the Fangpyre” and the success of the books.

New York, NY — Papercutz announced an unprecedented 425,000-copy first printing of LEGO® NINJAGO #4: “Tomb of the Fangpyre” today, in response to record sales and continued interest from LEGO fans of all ages. The second and third volumes of the series launched at #1 on the New York Times Best-Seller list, a rarity for children’s graphic novels. The book will be available on August 21, 2012.

“Demand for these titles has only gone up since our nearly 200,000-copy initial printing of the first book sold out, and we can’t be happier as the best stories are yet to come!” said Papercutz Publisher Terry Nantier. “‘Tomb of the Fangpyre’ will be the first to feature Jolyon Yates’s amazing artwork -- we can’t wait for LEGO Ninjago fans to see it.”

Two new Collectable Minifigure sets have been revealed at Brick Fanatics. One features the Series 3 Rapper, the  Series 4 Punk Rocker, and the Series 7 Rock Girl. The other would appear to be based on the Monster Fighters theme, and features the Series 2 Witch, a new Zombie, and the Monster Fighters Ghost. Both sets are being sold on eBay.

3 2013 themes: Speedorz and Legends of Chima

According to Brickset, two new trademarks have been registered by LEGO, and are called "Speedorz", and "Legends of Chima". Judging by the names of the trademarks I'd say it would be a safe bet to say that the new Speedorz theme is something to do with racing and that Legends of Chima has something to do with history. Either of these themes could replace Ninjago at the end of 2013.
