Recently Warner Bros. hired several artists to create a piece of artwork for the upcoming LEGO The Lord of the Rings video game. The piece of artwork was created on a 11x13 canvas. The original design of the artwork was created by art director, Leon Keer of Planet Streetpainting.

0 Reductions at Sainsburys in the UK

Whilst on holiday today I spotted several LEGO City sets reduced by 25% at Sainsburys in Banbury. There was also the two 2012 Star Wars battle packs reduced by 25%, now priced at £8.99.

2 The Sun October newspaper promotion

A user named "Secretjedi" at Brickset has just reported that The Sun will be giving away eight LEGO promotions during October this year. The promotion will run for eight days as usual and will start on the 6th October and end on the 13th October.

A few days ago, LEGO released official pictures of the Rancor Pit, the next LEGO Star Wars set, scheduled for release in 2013. The set features 4 minifigures, Luke Skywalker, a Gamorrean Guard, Malakili, a skeleton, and a Rancor. The set is said to be priced at $59.99 and will be able to sit beneath 9516 Jabba's Palace to allow for extra playability.

The LEGO CUUSOO Project known as "Thinking with Portals!" reached 10,000 supporting votes at 18:04 (UK time) today. The project is the eleventh project to reach 10,000 votes and will now be entered into review by LEGO officials.

The project was created by Brickthing on 28 June, 2012 reaching 10,000 supports in just 15 days, making it the second fastest project to reach 10,000 supports. LEGO is yet to congratulate Brickthing on achieving 10,000 supports.

This would tend to suggest that anyone who has ordered 10215 Obi-Wan's Jedi Starfighter should expect to receive their 40049 Mini Sopwith Camel very soon.

0 LEGO animals on display at Bronx Zoo in New York

LEGO animals composed of a total of 37,000 bricks made their first appearance this week at Bronx Zoo in New York. The LEGO animals took 370 hours to complete. Some animals that have been replicated in the form of LEGO include a tiger, a zebra, a rhino, and a gorilla. Some of the LEGO animals are even placed next to animal enclosures of their real-life counterparts. They will remain on display until September 3, 2012.

LEGOLAND Windsor has now reclaimed the world record for the tallest LEGO tower by no more than 0.1m. The previous record holder for the tallest LEGO tower was in South Korea whos tower measured 31.9m tall. The LEGO tower at LEGOLAND Windsor breaks the world record by 0.1m, measuring a total of 32m (105ft)!

A German graffiti artist called Martin Heuwold (also known as MEGX), has painted a bridge spanning 250 square-meters in Germany with the help of City officials to make it look like the bridge is composed of giant LEGO bricks. The bridge redesign took Martin Heuwold a total of four weeks to complete.
